Who We Are

The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is the leading authority on the topic of global environmental responsibility. As a trusted resource to more than 5,000 environmental professionals worldwide, A&WMA, a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional association, provides a neutral forum for information exchange, professional development, networking, public education and outreach. The Florida Section of the A&WMA, which includes six chapters statewide, is focused on:

  • Communicating information about environmental issues (air, waste, and water) that affect industries in Florida; and
  • Creating connections between members who can assist with solution management.

Members include professionals in a variety of fields including regulators, consultants, academia and the legal community. The core purpose of the Florida Section of A&WMA is to improve environmental knowledge and decisions among its members by providing a neutral forum for exchanging information.

Our Mission

A&WMA’s mission is to assist in the professional development and critical environmental decision-making of our members to benefit society. We accomplish our mission by networking with environmental leaders throughout the state of Florida, who infuse the organization with knowledge of recent regulatory developments and technological advancements.

Our Story

The Association has several Sections serving its membership worldwide. The Florida Section, which includes a total of six chapters statewide, provides members at the local level with environmental leadership opportunities, region-specific programming, networking at its annual conference, access to continuing education and affiliation with student chapters.

To ensure local members are kept up-to-date about new developments in the profession, the Florida Section offers a seasonal newsletter filled with updates and information about student programs and awards. Additionally, the organization hosts its annual Florida Section Conference and Exhibition, bringing together environmental professionals, regulators, and legal professionals throughout the state to share their expertise about cutting-edge technical topics and to connect with businesses and organizations offering the latest advancements in environmental products and services.

Through its programming and services, the Florida Section of A&WMA strives to:
