What an interesting time to serve as Chair of our Chapter; I continue to be happy and excited to do so in 2021. Despite a global pandemic our Chapter continues to be successful pursuing our goal of providing a neutral forum for AWMA members to exchange ideas locally and promoting educational programs for members and students. These goals are accomplished with the support of all members and I encourage you to get involved or stay involved.

Our successful Scholarship Program and Annual Joint Florida/Alabama Technical Conference are examples of programs that continue to support our goals. We successfully held our Conference virtually in 2020 and joined with the Florida Section Conference for the first time!

The pandemic has created opportunities to work in different ways and I am also happy to say that we will join forces with the Big Bend Chapter by merging the two Chapters in 2021. The Big Bend Chapter includes the Tallahassee area and this merger will not only to bring diversity to the Coastal Plains Chapter but help to revive the AWMA members in the Tallahassee area. We have already added/elected Board members from the Big Bend geographic area and are planning meetings and events for 2021.
